Draw the Circle Wide

Company is coming! In September, we will (hopefully) invite and welcome a lot of people to Hope as we celebrate the past 50 years and look forward to the next five decades and more. How do we invite and welcome well those who will draw near to our circle? How do we invite and welcome and create sense of belonging and connection within the relationships of our lives?

The early church faced such questions and challenges in days following Pentecost as recorded in the The Acts of the Apostles. Originally, the disciples were a small band of Jewish learners following their unorthodox Teacher. But suddenly, they were led (and sometimes carried!) by the Spirit to meet strangers and enemies and widen the circle of their community.

In these weeks, we will try to reflect on the lessons of hospitality the spirit taught the church in Acts, so that we too may practice drawing the circle wide to make Hope a community of belonging, connection, and peace.
